10 years of training
I’ve been training at SMAA for a few years now. Adam and Jen do an amazing job of making everybody feel welcome and like they are part of more than just a team. The culture of the club is very open and positive making learning and teaching a pleasure. I couldn’t imagine training anywhere else with a better group of people.
Mixed martial arts (MMA) is a full-contact combat sport based on striking, grappling and ground fighting, incorporating techniques from various martial art disciplines from around the world.
It is the fastest-growing competitive sport in the world and there are many opportunities for developing your skills and competing through local and mainland events.
How to Start My first Class?
In order to train in our Mixed Martial Arts program, you will be required to also attend classes in Kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Classes are organised as group sessions and are not timetabled.
For more information contact Adam Newton on 0404 285 851.
What Do I Need to do MMA?
You must be enrolled and attending classes in Kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu on a regular basis in order to be enrolled in this program.
When you first start training you will need to wear comfortable clothing that you can move in easily, example shorts and a rash vest.
You’ll need to purchase your own MMA gloves, shin guards and mouthguard. This can be purchased at the club or elsewhere. It is necessary to have all this equipment to start your first MMA class.
Here at the Sorell Martial Arts Academy, we have boxing bags and conditioning equipment to help you train in the sport under the supervision of our qualified instructors who will help you achieve your goals.
